Your RV air conditioner is running, but the cabin still feels warm. Before you assume the unit needs replacement, gather a few details that can help a technician narrow down the problem. Start with the controls and accessible airflow checks—not rooftop work or electrical repairs.
These are different symptoms. Note whether the fan runs, whether air reaches the vents, and whether the problem affects one unit or both. Write down any thermostat error code and when cooling stopped. A photo of the thermostat display can help you explain the issue without repeatedly restarting the equipment.
Confirm the thermostat is in cooling mode and the selected temperature is below the cabin temperature. Fan-only mode moves air without cooling it. If your RV has multiple zones, check that you have selected the zone you expect to cool. Follow your unit’s manual for settings and restart instructions.
Check that indoor supply vents and the return-air opening are not covered by luggage, furniture or bedding. If the filter is owner-accessible, turn the unit off and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for inspection and cleaning. A filter that looks clean does not rule out another problem. Do not remove electrical covers or reach into the unit.
Tell the shop whether the RV is connected to campground shore power, a generator or another power source. Mention any recent power interruption or breaker trip. If a breaker repeatedly trips, a connector feels unusually hot, or you notice a burning smell, stop using the equipment and request help. Do not keep resetting a breaker or opening electrical panels to investigate.

A technician can determine whether the problem is airflow, controls, power or the AC equipment itself. The symptoms alone cannot tell you whether repair or replacement is the right choice.
